Old Oyo National Park

A short drive from Iseyin lies Old Oyo National Park, one of Nigeria’s most significant nature reserves and a living reminder of the old Oyo Empire, once among the most powerful kingdoms in West Africa. Spanning vast stretches of savannah grassland, the park is home to elephants, baboons, antelopes, and a wealth of birdlife, alongside the ruins of the ancient capital itself.

It is a rare opportunity to combine wildlife encounters with a genuine sense of history. It features the relics of a kingdom whose influence once stretched across much of present-day Nigeria and Benin. For guests staying at Okeogun Gateway, it is one of the most rewarding day trips Oyo State has to offer.
